Since summer is over and I haven’t really been able to do much that is summer-like, I thought I’d post this old school photo of me in my Grandparent’s swimming pool in Florida. probably 1976, which would make me 4 years old. It could’ve been a year earlier or later too. I am not sure.

At any rate, I’ve been really busy with work, and have been wrought with many emotions on many things, including the disaster that Katrina has set on the Gulf Coast. My Grandparents lived on the Gulf Coast in FL, and I have memories of the beach in New Port Richey, FL when I was a wee one.

It is my hope that those who lost their lives in Katrina, rest in peace, and those who’ve survived will find the strength and courage to persevere through the struggles that lie ahead.

Juliana Hatfield played an in-store at Revolution Records in DC on 8/13. I soon realized how awkward the angle was from where I was sitting. So I only snapped a few pics. I felt a bit strange being so close, but she played a half hour’s worth of songs and her voice sounded so pure as ever!

She played an excellent set at IOTA later that night with the band. She seemed as though she was having a great time, despite the high heat and humidity inside the club!!

I tried posting this the other night, but couldn’t get it to work. Between running around and work, and keeping up a second sorta job by house/pet sitting, I haven’t really had a moment to spare!

Luckily, I was able to get a real quick overnight visit in to NJ to see the entire family. We celebrated my Mom’s birthday (and mine, belated, since it’s usually hard for me to go home that weekend…4th of July and all that.)

And the rest of the family got to meet this beautiful wee boy, Timothy! The newest addition to the McArdle clan. He’s had a bit of struggle but we’re pleased he’s here and giving the good fight!

I was able to hold him a few times, but had to share with the other aunts, uncles grandparents, cousins, great grandparents, etc.

looking at the photo, also makes ME sleepy!!!

a few months ago, I had a dental implant attached to my lower jaw to replace two molars I lost due to decay many years ago. This morning I had to get myself up in the wee hours of the morning (I am so NOT a morning person) for an emergency visit to the dentist. I’ve been in a bit of pain the last day or two and my gum is all swollen, etc. I was a little concerned when my dentist wasn’t sure what to do, because the implant is fine as seen here in the photo of the computer screen x-ray I snapped while they went to work on another patient.

It turns out that after he numbed me up, and got a closer look inside, the screw holding the implant in place was loose!!!

I always knew I had some loose screws but….

Teenage Fanclub!!!

glad I got myself out to the 9:30 to see them tonight. GREAT show. the sound was a bit distorted at the beginning of their set, but it was fixed and adjusted eventually so all was good.

the above pictures are what I almost thought about wearing to the show tonight. This t-shirt I bought back in 1992 when I saw Uncle Tupelo and Teenage Fanclub at the TLA in Philly with Joe Maida (shout-out!) I hardly wear it anymore since it’s way too big. back then I was even more self conscious then I am now and tried to hide in my clothes and in corners, etc.

we got two encores and I was able to see and hear both since Tom gave me a lift back to Arlington, and therefore didn’t have to rush for last train home.
