Black Cat-June 30-My birthday-Frightened Rabbit

At the Black Cat backstage, on June 30 (it’s a Monday night)….
it’s my birthday and I get to see Frightened Rabbit!

Mon June 30- OXFORD COLLAPSE, FRIGHTENED RABBIT $10 Backstage 8:30 (on sale May 16)

perhaps seeing them will take the sting away from getting another year older?!

anyone care to join me?

not sure what else I’m going to do, but I am definitely going to the show!

lovely breezy night

tonight it’s absolutely lovely outside. it’s about 78 degrees with an amazing breeze blowing.
it’s nights like tonight that really make me miss home, and the ocean.

on a day like today back home, I’d get myself to the beach to soak up some sun (with sunscreen of course, my fair skin burns so quickly), maybe wade in the surf, and go for a walk….

if I try hard enough I can smell the salt air, and almost imagine as if I’m home.

sigh.

Frightened Rabbit-The Midnight Organ Fight

Frightened Rabbit’s new album, The Midnight Organ Fight was released last week…

I haven’t been able to stop listening to it. They’re coming back to the US in June, but so far, no East Coast dates….I am really hoping that changes!

also, here’s the first single off the album: “Head Rolls Off”

The Music Asylum 4/13/08 playlist

While Sunday’s show didn’t quite go as smoothly as I had hoped, it has been 8 years since I last did a show so I had to shake the rust off a bit and get used to the changes in the studio.

at any rate, Bob Portella gave me a cd copy of my show so I was able to listen in to see how bad it sounded!! I listened to it on my drive back to VA today, which was helpful to keep me alert. I ended up going back out to the studio to hang out with Paul Glaser and Bob during their radio shows and got back to my parents’ house AFTER 2am this morning!!!

I hope to do another fill in show soon and wish I could do a show on a regular basis, but will have to settle for fill ins here and there for now. I didn’t get to play nearly everything I wanted to, but here’s the list:

archers of loaf-web in front
glossary-nothing can hurt you now
the magnolias-east coast, west coast girl
reigning sound-time bomb high school
sleepyhead-what’s gonna set you free
aerialist-spoken for

wilco-forget the flowers
ac cotton-all right audrey
endrick brothers-so last night

craig marshall-desperately
the minders-it’s so hard
the tyde-go ask yer dad
dropkick-rings of the tree
cordalene-kissed awake

the saving graces-giving up the ghost
jason collett-tiny ocean of tears
the belles-liquid breakfast

the everybodyfields-baby please
Mr. D-island girl

big thanks to Bill Grohs for offering me the open slot and thanks to all who “tuned” in to listen!!!

back on the radio Sunday April 13, 2008!

It’s been at least 8 years since I last stepped foot into the studios
of WLFR at Stockton College in NJ, probably much longer. It seems strange to say that, since I spent almost every day there when I was in college.

I was already planning on heading home to NJ to visit my family and help celebrate one of my nephew’s birthdays, and now I get to do a radio show!

I’ve always kept in touch with my friends still there.
there’s a slot open this Sunday from 4-6pm and it’s all mine!
the local signal, 91.7FM isn’t quite the 30 mile radius it used to be, but they’ve got a web stream:
http://www.wlfr.fm/

it says real player or windows media only, but I opened it up in
itunes just fine.

2 hours of me playing some of my favorite songs of now and then. I was on air from about 1992-1999/2000 or so. I graduated in 1995, but kept spinning regularly and filling in for a while after that. My show for most of that time was called The Music Asylum, so I’m going with that for Sunday!

The web stream supports up to 130 listeners, the record amount at one time so far is 108, and I want to try and at least match that, if not surpass it!

tune in on Sunday to hear what incredible tunes I’ll spin for you!
